Masaya Kubota (久保田 正也, Kubota Masaya) was a third year and a shooting guard of Teikō Junior High's first string.
Appearance[]
Kubota has long black hair that cover his eyes and ears. He is of average height and build.
During his time at Teikō Junior High, he wore the number 10.
History[]
Kubota first appeared alongside others first players string, welcoming the arrival of Tetsuya Kuroko.[1]
In a training session, he scolded Shūzō Nijimura for letting Daiki Aomine passing him easily.[2]
During the Nationals Junior High, Kubota was mainly used as a substitute for the team. He eventually retired with Nijimura and Tōru Sekiguchi.
Etymology[]
- The name Masaya means "right, proper" (正) (masa) and "to be, also" (也) (ya).
- Masaya's surname Kubota means "long time" (久) (ku), "protect/protection, guarantee, maintain" (保) (ho/bo) and "field, rice paddy" (田) (ta).

- His name wasn't known until the fanbook KUROFES.
