Kuroko no Basuke Wiki

Would You Mind Doing That Once More (もう一回やりませんか, Mōikkai yarimasen ka), also translated to "Let's Do that Again", is an OVA episode of the Kuroko no Basuke anime included with Season 2 DVD Volume 6. It is based off of the 124th chapter of the manga and shows how Tetsuya Kuroko and Daiki Aomine first met.

This episode's opening is Hengen Jizai no Magical Star and the ending is FANTASTIC TUNE.

Synopsis[]

The episode begins on a fall evening at Teikō Junior High. Satsuki Momoi informs Daiki Aomine about a rumored ghost in the third string gym, to which he calls the rumor stupid and says that he would gladly challenge the "ghost" to a 1-on-1 if it really existed. Aomine then leaves to investigate the rumor and meets Tetsuya Kuroko practicing on his own. The two share a mutual respect for the other's dedication to basketball and agree to practice together in the third string gym from then on.

Following a failed upper team tryout to be promoted to the second string, Kuroko shows up late to practice with Aomine for the first time and admits that he wants to quit basketball entirely. Aomine immediately protests and commends his dedication to the sport, saying that he puts in more effort than even those on the first string and that it inspires him to be a better player himself. Seijūrō Akashi, Atsushi Murasakibara, and Shintarō Midorima then appear while searching for Aomine. Akashi shows an interest in Kuroko and vaguely observes that he has some sort of secret talent.

The episode then cuts to Kuroko comfortably playing his role of the first string's phantom sixth man as well as Aomine's steady loss of motivation. He begins skipping practice and contemplates skipping games. Kuroko is annoyed by this, puts an ice pop down the back of Aomine's shirt, and reassures him that he will find someone worth playing against soon enough. Aomine is still moderately doubtful but admits that he still has an opponent to look forward to with Tomoya Inoue.

However, during Teikō Junior High's match against Kamizaki Junior High, Aomine's hopes for a good game are completely destroyed once he witnesses their lack of effort. Akashi notices this and instructs Kuroko to focus his passes on Aomine in order to show the other team the meaning of 'true defeat', worsening the severity of Aomine's thoughts towards his own strength until he no longer has anything to look forward to.

Katsunori Harasawa makes an appearance near the end of the episode to scout Aomine for Tōō Academy. He takes the prodigy's desire to miss practice into consideration due to how valuable his talents would be for their basketball team. Shoichi Imayoshi also speaks with Aomine and provokes him by observing that he almost seems to wish for defeat, calling him soft and saying that it would be better for him not to attend Tōō Academy until he is truly ready to be the best. Aomine says that he will think about it.

Manga and Anime Differences[]

  • After Aomine's initial scare by Kuroko in the anime, he believes that Kuroko is really a ghost and profusely apologizes for his bad behavior while promising not to bring any more gravure magazines to school. This does not happen in the manga.
  • The anime contains a scene where Aomine and Kuroko have a 1-on-1 match while the manga does not. Kuroko's reflexes are able to keep up with Aomine's movements and fakes despite not having the physical speed to stop him. Another scene is shown afterwards with Aomine getting food from Maji Burger and Kuroko unintentionally surprising him with his presence.
    • Both of these scenes, with Aomine being excited to play against Kuroko only to be disappointed and him giving Kuroko one of his burgers, are similar to ones between Kuroko and Taiga Kagami in Episode 1.
  • Akashi mentions in the anime that they were holding upper string tryouts before Kuroko thinks about quitting, implying that it may be the cause of his sudden loss of motivation, while the manga does not show any sort of event prior to their conversation.
  • The anime contains extra scenes of previously mentioned events, such as Aomine's conversation with Kuroko about finding a player better than him and Teikō Junior High's match against Kamizaki Junior High.
  • The manga does not show Aomine speaking with Katsunori Harasawa or Shoichi Imayoshi.
